Students Take to the Windows in NYC

DDI_LogoDiva is gearing up for another installment of the DDI Student Window Challenge, presented by Saks Fifth Avenue—and she could Not. Be. More. Excited. Seriously! This year’s students hail from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and LIM College, and Diva is betting that they are the most creative bunch yet! If you’re in New York and you want to see the retail design industry’s up-and-coming talent, stop by Saks’ 49th Street windows on June 6—the students will be working in the windows all day, crafting inspiringly creative visual masterpieces (Diva’s sure of it!). Curious to find out who wins the daylong challenge (which is totally like “Project Runway,” only better because it’s about Diva’s main love—WINDOWS!)? Then plan on stopping by the After Party and Awards Ceremony, hosted inside Saks at Cafe SFA (8th floor), from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Diva doesn’t know about you, but she never misses an opportunity for mingling with her retail design buddies—and of course, there’s always the free drinks and food! RSVP at

Diva also can’t wait to meet the talented students at the party. And OMG when the winning team is announced, Diva’s going to try and not get teary-eyed as they proudly and excitedly receive their prizes—but she’s not making any promises. These young designers are inspiring and amazing and Diva is so excited that she already RSVP-ed to the party—twice. Diva apologizes for her over-exuberance, but she really can’t help it when it comes these sort of things. Come have a drink with Diva at the After Party and meet these rising stars! Diva will be the one getting the students’ autographs, you know, just in case.

P.S. Aren’t in NYC? Don’t freak out, you can check back here at on June 6 for live blogging from the Student Window Challenge, complete with plenty of snapshots of the students in action. Who knows, maybe Tim Gunn will show up again! (Tim, that is what Diva calls a triple-dog-dare. So, Make. It. Work.)

P.P.S. You can also follow DDI on Twitter @DDItweets for live shots from the competition all day long on June 6.
